Artiste Management & more!

AMG India now also a Music Label !

As AMG India completes its 10th successful year as India’s premiere Artiste Management Company, it now also takes up the avatar of a Music Label for its key, independent artistes. This, ofcourse, is a very familiar territory for their founder Mr. Manish Savant, who has launched successful albums by artistes such as Shankar Mahadevan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Perveen, Jagjit Singh, Kamaal Khan, etc. during his days with HMV Saregama, prior to him setting up AMG India.

The company’s 1st release will be the latest Music Album, MEETINGS IN INDIA, of it’s legendary International World Fusion band MYNTA on Oct 13, ’10. The band, comprising leading musicians from Sweden, USA & Cuba besides India’s tabla maestro Fazal Qureshi, is being flown down to India especially for a Concert Tour to promote the new album.

The CDs of the album will be distributed by AMG themselves through Live performance Venues where the band will be performing, through mail order on it’s website http://www.amgindia.in and also through key Music outlets throughout the country.

For the digital distribution of the album through internet download and mobile Callertunes as well as DTH, AMG India has tied up exclusively with Hungama Digital Media Ent. Pvt. Ltd. The album would be released through a Live Webcast of the band’s album launch Concert to a Worldwide audience on Oct 13, ’10 and could be viewed for free through Hungama’s website ArtistAloud.com.

AMG India sees this only as an extension of their Artiste Management business, and not as being a competition to the Major Music Companies. They see this as only being another avenue for the Independent Artistes to reach out their music to their fans, at a time when Music Companies are not very open to supporting non-film music.

Amongst it’s future release plans (Jan-Feb ’11) is an album by US based Indian female vocalist Satya, who is equally at ease singing Carnatic Classical as well as Jazz and Brazilian. Her album Seven Blue Seas has her singing in Hindi, Portuguese and English – three languages that broadly represent the history of her native Mumbai.

With the growth of Social Media networking platforms and the rise of the Mobile and Internet media as well as Live Performance Venues, these are definitely good times for the Independent Musician & AMG India is committed to fully supporting them in this process ….
