AMG India was started in November 2000 with the purpose of developing the Artistes’ persona so as to keep them in the public view 365 days of the year. The idea was to develop and maintain a continuous, direct contact between the artistes and their fans.
Over the years, the constantly changing music industry dynamics and the increasing competition has meant greater demands on artistes. AMG quickly realized the need for a fresher and more dynamic, pro-active and technologically efficient approach to help meet artistes requirements.
The company is the brainchild of Mr. Manish Savant, who has had years of experience single handedly setting up and managing the Artiste Management Division at the prestigious Saregama India Ltd. (then known as HMV) and successfully marketing the albums and managing Live performances of leading artistes such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Parveen, Jagjit Singh, Alisha Chinai, Sukhwinder Singh, Suneeta Rao, Raageshwari and many more.
Having worked closely with most of these artistes, helped Manish develop the much needed expertise in Artiste Management – to be able to understand what goes on inside the mind of the artiste & thus to be able to make ‘precise’ decisions on their behalf.
At HMV, Manish was also responsible for Identifying, Auditioning and Nurturing new talent – which saw the launch of artistes such as Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kamaal Khan, Shibani Kashyap, Kunal Ganjawala and Vibha Sharma.
Of course the Engineering degree (BE Computers) and the post-graduation degree in Marketing Management (MMS) from leading colleges of Mumbai helped develop Manish’s analytical & management skills required for his Brand Management profile. Being a typical Bull (Manish is a Taurian) helped too, as his qualities such as ‘single-minded focus’, ‘honesty’, ‘practical’ and ‘dependable’ are most important in Artiste Management. After all, an artiste would want to be represented by someone whom he can trust to deal with just about every aspect of his/her career and an event organizer would prefer to work with someone who stands for ‘commitment’.
Heading the Client Servicing and the Internet Marketing business at AMG is Ms. Tapasya Natekar, who has nearly a decade of experience in Client Servicing and Brand Management. She has worked on International Brands such as L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline and big Indian accounts such as Pidilite.
Tapasya has been largely instrumental in driving the e-commerce initiative at AMG and also helps servicing requirements of regular clients amongst Event Management companies, besides business development with Tour Sponsors and new Event Organizers.
